10-10-07 -- ADRIFT OR ANCHORED?

On Wednesday, we read from One Day at a Time. Today's share was about how adrift and at sea we can be when we only rely on ourselves. How a Higher Power can be our anchor.

But I said this: I have a belief in a Higher Power. But I'm confused about it.

I know it's folly to think that just because you have a Higher Power you are protected.

But isn't an anchor a form of protection?

So what's the point of having a Higher Power if you're not protected?,

If it were up to me, my Higher Power would be my own personal Carte Vitale, the French term for the state health insurance card.

But I liked what the morning meeting co-founder said today.  For him, his Higher Power is just always there, like a kidney.

You don't have to apply to a bureaucratic organization to access your Higher Power.

In fact, if you take what the co-founder said, your Higher Power IS your ultimate Carte Vitale.

No carte de sejour, no income tax returns, no fonctionnaires to persuade in order to use it.

It's just there, like your kidney.
